lil’ Las Vegas’ First Annual Pride Celebration!

Candlelight Vigil – Please join us to honor the people who started the Pride movement, and those who lost their lives. Sunday April 21st at 6 pm, meet at 2nd and Grand.

Las Vegas Pride Pageant–Friday April 26th from 7-10pm in the Wilson Complex. There will be generous seating and excellent sound system to work with, and we will have a 10’x20′ stage for performances. Applicants for the drag pageant can perform as participants or as contestants for the title of Las Vegas Pride Queen and King, and will be featured in our Parade and Plaza title recognition. Participants are here to entertain the audience and provide transition between our contestants and their interview question and talent/formal wear. Contestants will have performances for talent with their inspired formal wear and then will be brought back on stage for a single “Miss America-type” interview questions pertaining to LGBTQAI+ experiences and achievements. Performances are limited to four minutes in length and no cursing in the music–it is an all-ages event–and we encourage lip syncing, singing, dancing, spoken word, and/or any other talent you would like to share! We will have a space reserved for performers to change and prepare their makeup, hopefully in the locker rooms but we also have bathrooms and classrooms to partition for privacy and comfort.

Las Vegas Pride Parade–Line up starting Saturday April 27 at 10am, we will have designated spaces for each float/car/marching group to fall into place and will line up along the residential section of 5th Street, extending toward Mills Ave. The step off will be at 12noon on the corner of 5th and National, turning right onto National so we start at the front of Carnegie Library. We will then proceed along National Ave, into Bridge Street until reaching the plaza, where the route will once again turn right and end while floats and cars park somewhere to join us in the Plaza for the gathering (we will request a section of the parking lot behind bridge street businesses so floats dont have to travel too far to join us in the plaza). We will feature our Grand Marshals as well as Pageant court in the parade! The LVPD will be stationed at every block and also a bike officer will be riding throughout the parade route. LVPD will work with Campus Police to be sure every group feels safe along the parade route.

Las Vegas Pride Plaza–Starting at 1pm after the parade, we will begin our entertainment for the day with:

  • Mariachi music
  • Headliner by Alana Summers of the Haus of Summers based in Dallas, TX (potential)
  • Strings Attached
  • Encantada Band
  • New Mexico Gay Men’s Chorus

We will also recognize our Pageant court and Grand Marshals/Special guests! There will be booths for people to leisurely walk around and check out while getting information about local resources and specialties from local craftspeople. We will wrap up around 4pm and have until 5:30pm to clean up! The police will be present for surveillance and to guarantee safety for plaza goers.

All-ages Dance! – April 27th starting at 7pm in the Palms Ballroom (on the plaza). This will include music, crafts, and information for youth.
